Tavian & Indira on being cute enough to eat
Katie: “Indi, you are so cute I just want to eat you up.”
Indi: (long pause while contemplating): “I don’t taste very good.”
Tavian: “Yeah, she’s poison.”

This was also preceded by an extensive squirt-gun battle; quite fun on a warm afternoon.

arduino: camera & flash controller
First effort to build a trigger for the camera flash for high-speed photography. When you press the button, it opens the shutter and starts measuring the sound level; if a threshold is exceeded, it fires the flash and then closes the shutter. It could obviously use some work on the lighting, etc., but I’m happy with the single test so far.

the robot project
Tavian and I started our robot project, which means that we assembled the tracked vehicle base and dual-motor gearbox. Then I spent some time connecting it to the Make Controller that I have, which has motor drivers. We started with a piezoelectric sensor, to detect claps. I will post some pictures too but here is a video:

the helmets were mandated by the neighbors, although we eventually ignored that rule.
